Amazon To Stream Stage Version Of ‘Fleabag’ For Charity

Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s “Fleabag” is all set to stream on Amazon Prime Video to raise money for people in need amid the coronavirus pandemic. In a press release, Waller-Bridge noted that the world is going through rough times and she hopes that the “filmed” performance could help in raising money for the people affected by the pandemic while providing wholesome entertainment to those who are in self-isolation. The actress also revealed that the money raised will be going to a number of charities including NHS Charities Together and Acting For Others, and National Emergencies Trust. All the money raised from the production will support all the health care workers who are on the front lines of the pandemic.

“I hope this filmed performance of ‘Fleabag’ can help raise money while providing a little theatrical entertainment in these isolated times. All money raised will support the people throughout our society who are fighting for us on the front lines and those financially devastated by the crisis,” Waller-Bridge said. “Thank you to all our partners and to the creative team who have waived their royalties from this production to raise money for such vital causes in this unbelievably challenging situation. Thank you in advance to those who donate,” Waller-Bridge she added.

Waller-Bridge wrote “Fleabag” as a one-woman play in 2013 and went on to become a series on Amazon. The series season 2 won a total of six Primetime Emmys last year, including Outstanding Comedy Series.

James Taylor Is ‘The Voice’ Season 18’s Mega Mentor

Music icon James Taylor will serve as the mega mentor on Season 18 of The Voice. Taylor will join the coaches to mentor the artists remaining from the Battle Rounds, and prepare each team for the Knockout Rounds, which will begin on Monday (April 13) at 8 p.m. EST/PST

Only one winner on each team will advance, chosen by America’s votes and revealed at the beginning of the first live show.

Coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Nick Jonas and Blake Shelton play a game of ‘telephone’ to tell each other the news about Taylor in a promotional announcement for the show. Check out the comical announcement at the link: here

Netflix Says “Tiger King” To Release Extra Episode In The Coming Week

Netflix is reportedly adding a new Tiger King episode, according to star Jeff Lowe. On Twitter, Lowe revealed a new Tiger King episode would premiere on Netflix soon.

In a video addressed to Los Angeles Dodgers’ player Justin Turner and his wife Kourtney Pogue, (who recently discussed being obsessed with Tiger King on her podcast, Holding Kourt), Lowe teased the couple for their interest in the show in the clip on Twitter. “Thank you for watching our show, Christie said you’re a big fan, and, yeah, you need a life,” he said. “You just wasted seven hours on us.” Lowe also dropped some news that will interest many viewers of the popular documentary series. He said: “Netflix is adding one more episode, we’ll be on next week. We’re filming here tomorrow.” He signed-off by urging the public to stay safe amid the new coronavirus pandemic, adding: “Take care, stay safe, and put your mask on.”

Netflix dropped Tiger King: Murder, Madness and Mayhem on March 26, and the show became a sensation online. Tiger King explores the world of big cat breeding, focusing in particular on the crimes of Joseph Maldonado Passage, or Joe Exotic, a former country-musician, Oklahoma Zookeeper, gun enthusiast, and big cat breeder. Maldonado-Passage was found guilty in 2019 for paying a hitman $3,000 to murder Carole Baskin, his rival and founder of Big Cat Rescue. He owned an exotic animal park and often boasted of having the largest number of big cats in America.

PETA Urges Kate McKinnon To Use CGI Cats In Scripted Series Based On Netflix’s ‘Tiger King’

PETA is urging Kate McKinnon to use only CGI cats in the upcoming scripted series about Joe Exotic (real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage), the now-imprisoned big-cat breeder who is the topic of the recently released Netflix docuseries “Tiger King.”

Last November, McKinnon signed on to star in and executive produce the TV adaptation of the podcast network Wondery’s “Joe Exotic” podcast, portraying a big-cat enthusiast named Carole Baskin, who learns that Maldonado-Passage is breeding and using his big cats for profit. According to UCP’s description of the potential series, “Carole sets out to shut down his venture and incites a quickly escalating rivalry. But she has a checkered past of her own, and when the claws come out, Joe will stop at nothing to expose her hypocrisy, and the results prove deadly.”

“Tiger King,” the documentary by Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin, has been a smash hit for Netflix and on social media. The docuseries has been Netflix’s No. 1 title overall in the U.S. since Monday, per the streaming service.
